In Memory of My Precious Mommy... My Inspiration Jan. 27, 1925 - Oct. 12, 2015
This picture was taken with my mom and my siblings 5-weeks before she passed away. She received a signed photo and letter from President Obama for being the oldest living person left in my dad's family.
As mother would say "I was representing".
My mother, Ms. Fern L. Williams was my #1 fan and biggest supporter. She was beloved and respected for her work in the church, community at-large and with her family. My mom loved talk shows, the news, jazz music and had a super sense of humor....I don't need to wonder where mine came from....
My mom grew up in the 18th & Vine neighborhood in Kansas City, worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" at the Aluminum Plant there during WWII, met and married our dad (they had 4-children) right after the war. They never parted until dad died in 1989. Mother was a housekeeper for some wealthy families in my hometown when we were growing up, was a girl scout leader, Sunday School Superintendent (40+years) & teacher, AME Church Trustee, an avid cook, was the life of the party everywhere she went, and so much more.
She would listen to my show online and we would discuss weekly....
